Beyond Beethoven and Mozart
The sad thing about existence is that there is actually a life beyond Beethoven and Mozart, and it must be lived. The good thing is that the music helps us endure it — and sometimes Schopenhauer does.
Maybe I can say it better. Let me try: The pathos of life is that there are many hours in it that bear no semblance of either Beethoven or Mozart but which wrenchingly demand to be seen through.
